Seahawks defensive end Cliff Avril, tight end Jimmy Graham, and quarterback Russell Wilson were absent from the Seahawks' first Organized Team Activity. The trio was away tending to personal matters.

Avril's father Samuel passed away over the weekend, as did Graham's personal manager - Tammy Meyerson, who according to her obituary "loved and mentoredJimmy Graham as a son."

Wilson and Vice President of Player Engagement Mo Kelly flew to Miami last night to be with Graham and represent the Seahawks at Meyerson's funeral.

"We had the devastating news over the weekend of a couple of our team players with losses in their family," Seattle head coach Pete Carroll said after Tuesday's workout. "Our hearts go out to Cliff Avril and his family, Jimmy Graham and all of his people. Devastating losses and we send our hearts and prayers to those guys."

Carroll said Wilson and Kelly will also make an effort to visit Avril.

"We know that there's nothing we can really do," Carroll said. "But we're just trying to show the love and see if we can help out in any way."
