SWXRightNow.com -- After sitting through the NFL draft without hearing his name called former Washington State quarterback Connor Halliday signed with the Washington Redskins as an undrafted free agent, according to multiple reports on Twitter.

The move brings Halliday one step closer to achieving his NFL dreams after they were put in jeopardy when he broke his leg in his senior season.

The Redskins were one of the main teams who showed interest in Halliday after he visited with the team following one of his Pro Day workouts. Halliday never publicly did any running or agility drills, but did go through a positional workout where he threw the ball for scouts at WSU on March 12.

Halliday led the FBS with 430-plus passing yards a game last season and still finished the year with 3,873 yards passing and 32 touchdowns in 2014 despite the leg injury he sustained on Nov. 12 vs. USC and missing the final three games of the year. The Ferris High School grad completed 67.3 percent of his passes in 2014 and 62.8 percent in 2013 when he threw for 4,597 yards and 34 TDs as a junior.

The Redskins currently have three quarterbacks on their roster (Robert Griffin III, Kirk Cousins and Colt McCoy), so Halliday will need to beat one of three NFL quarterbacks or get used to the practice squad if the Redskins want to keep him around with one of their coveted slots.

Halliday was free to sign with Washington because he went undrafted, so in that choice he was able to find a place where he felt comfortable and he must have with offensive-minded head coach Jay Gruden.

One of Halliday's most impressive games of his collegiate career came in 2014 when he broke the FBS record for passing yards in a single game with a 734-yard, six TD performance vs. Cal. (Photos from that game are in the slideshow below).
