Crimson Edges Gray In WSU Spring Game

SPOKANE, Wash. – Wide Receiver Dom Williamscaught two touchdown passes to lead the Crimson team to a 31-29 victory in Washington State's Crimson & Gray Spring Game in front of 6,217 fans at Joe Albi Stadium Saturday afternoon.

Williams finished with eight receptions for 164 yards along with the two scores, one going for 55-yards in the first quarter and another for nine yards in the third quarter. Redshirt-sophomore quarterback Luke Falktossed two touchdowns for the Crimson team, both to Williams, completing 26-of-33 attempts for 323 yards. Also for the Crimson team, junior wideout John Thompson also caught five passes for 47 yards and redshirt-sophomore Robert Lewis made four catches for 76 yards.

On the ground, redshirt-sophomore running back Gerard Wicks carried 10 times for 30 yards with a one-yard touchdown plunge early in the third quarter. Redshirt-sophomore running back Jamal Morrow also scored on the ground, scoring over the right side from two yards out. Redshirt-sophomore kicker Erik Powell also connected for 42-yards out for the Crimson team late in the first quarter.

For the Gray team, redshirt-freshman quarterback Peyton Bender completed 29-of-42 attempts for 265 yards with two touchdowns (38, 16) and two interceptions. Freshman Tyler Hilinksi went 9-of-14 for 133 yards and two touchdowns (8, 11) and redshirt-sophomore Connor Ennis finished 8-of-14 for 62 yards. Redshirt-freshman running back Keith Harrington led all players with 10 receptions for 58 yards and also carried five times for 18 yards. Redshirt-junior wideout Gabe Marks made six catches for 37 yards and redshirt-senior Tyler Baker made five grabs for 73 yards. The Gray team received touchdown catches from wideouts D.J. Thompson (16 yards), Daniel Lilienthal (38 yards), Erik Anderson (8 yards) and Zaire Andre(11 yards).

The Crimson defense tallied five sacks and three interceptions. Three players each finished with six tackles, freshman cornerback Deion Singleton, redshirt-junior linebacker Kyle Newsom and redshirt-sophomore safety Darius Lemora. Sophomore linebacker Dylan Hanser recorded a pair of sacks while redshirt-sophomore Charleston White, redshirt-freshman linebacker Greg Hoyd III and redshirt-junior safety Willie Roach each picked off a pass.

The Gray defense tallied four sacks, two each from senior defensive end Destiny Vaeao and redshirt-senior defensive lineman Darryl Paulo. Redshirt-sophomore linebacker Peyton Pelluer led the way with eight tackles and redshirt-sophomore safety Isaac Dotson tallied six.

The Cougars will wrap up spring drills Tuesday at 2:30 p.m.
