Rockets Shutout Americans 3-0 In Game 2

Posted: Updated:
Kelowna, B.C.- While the Tri-City Americans played better than in Game 1, it still wasn't enough, as the Kelowna Rockets earned a 3-0 win in Game 2 to take a 2-0 series lead in front of 5,639 at Prospera Place on Saturday night.

The Rockets got on the board first, as Rodney Southam fired a shot, finding the top left corner of the net for a 1-0 lead. Kelowna had the shot advantage in the period, 20-6, as well as the momentum going into the second period.

Tri-City found some momentum in the second period, getting a majority of the good scoring chances, as well as outshooting Kelowna 13-11. But neither team was able to score in the second, as the Americans had a much easier hill to climb than last night in the third.

In the third, the Americans fought hard to get the tying goal, peppering Jackson Whistle with shots. He fought them all off, and Kelowna took a two goal lead on a goal from Leon Draisaitl late in the third. Tri-City pulled the goalie to try and get something going, but an empty net goal from Tyson Baillie sealed the win for Kelowna.

The Americans weren't able to score with three power play chances and recorded 23 minutes in the penalty box. The Rockets also were unsuccessful with three power play chances and spent 13 minutes in the penalty box.

Eric Comrie made 42 saves in the loss while Jackson Whistle stopped 30 shots his second consecutive shutout win.
