PULLMAN, Wash. -- Washington State earned its first win of the 2014 season in the Cougars first "true" home game of the year vs. Portland State behind a 544-yard, 6 touchdown performance from senior quarterback Connor Halliday at Martin Stadium on Saturday night.

The Cougars (1-2) took a 28-0 lead into the locker rooms at halftime thanks to three Halliday TD tosses and a one-yard touchdown run by Gerard Wicks.

The Vikings (1-2) responded after the half by cutting the WSU lead in half with back-to-back touchdowns, only to watch the Cougars push the lead back to 28 on back-to-back TDs of their own.

PSU QB Kieran McDonagh led the way for the Vikings with 269 yards passing and a TD.

Isiah Meyers finished with 11 catches for 227 yards and three scores. Dom Williams grabbed two touchdowns from and totaled 112 yards receiving on only four receptions.

Washington State piled up 706 yards of offense while holding Portland State to 362 yards.
