More than 30 NFL players have been arrested in 2014 More than 30 NFL players have been arrested in 2014
SWXRightNow.com - Initially the NFL decided to suspend Baltimore Ravens Running Back Ray Rice for two games following his arrest for domestic violence in February. Following the release of elevator security footage of the incident where Rice is seen severely beating his then fiancee to the point where she lost consciousness, the NFL decided to suspend Rice indefinitely.

But Rice isn't the only NFL player who has been arrested in 2014. Over thirty other players have been arrested in the first nine and a half months of the year, some of them twice, like Wide Receiver Josh Gordon. Many of the charges are drug or alcohol related. Though there are a few arrests connected to violence.

Cleveland Browns wide receiver Davone Bess was arrested in January for allegedly assaulting a police officer in the Fort Lauderdale International Airport. Bess was released by the Brown two months later.

In March, Cincinnati Fullback Orson Charles was arrested and charged with Wanton Endangerment after he allegedly pulled out a gun during a road rage incident.

Also in March, Tennessee Titans Defensive End Adewale Ojomo was arrested in a prostitution sting and was waived by the Titans two weeks later.

Both Jah Reid of the Baltimore Ravens and T.J. Ward of the Denver Broncos have been arrested for allegedly being involved in fights at strip clubs.

San Francisco 49ers Linebacker Aldon Smith was arrested at the Los Angeles International Airport in April after he allegedly became belligerent during security screening and said he had a bomb.

Most recently, San Francisco Defensive Tackle Ray McDonald was arrested in August for suspicion of felony Domestic Violence in San Jose.

Since the year 2000, 713 NFL players have been arrested. The Minnesota Viking lead the league in arrests in the last 14 years with 42 of their players finding their way to jail. Locally the Seattle Seahawks have had 20 players arrested since 2000. The St. Louis Rams have the least amount of players who have been arrested with 8, according to sportingcharts.com.

So with the NFL averaging more than three players being arrested every month, we want to know if you think the league is doing everything they can to curb the criminal activity of their players. Let us know right now on our Facebook pages: SWX Right Now and KHQ Local News.
