SPOKANE, Wash. – The Spokane Shock (8-7, 3-2) return home to Spokane Veterans Memorial Arena to host the Arizona Rattlers (14-1, 4-0) in a nationally televised game on CBS Sports Network on Saturday, July 12 at 7:00 p.m. PDT.

Both the Shock and the Rattlers have already secured playoff berths, however, this game still carries meaning for both squads. The Rattlers are looking to keep pace with the Cleveland Gladiators to secure the No. 1 seed and the Shock are looking to avoid the season sweep to their National Conference rivals after losing their first two contests on the road to the Rattlers.

Spokane and Arizona both enter the showdown coming off a bye week, gathering some much-needed rest late in the season. The Shock entered their bye week fresh off a 64-46 victory over the LA KISS, while the Rattlers suffered their first loss of the season to the San Jose SaberCats by a score of 62-33.

In Erik Meyer’s return to LA two weeks ago, the field in which he was injured on early in the season, he completed 23 of 34 passes for 214 yards and six touchdowns while adding three rushes for one touchdown. Rookie wide receiver Rashaad Carter had himself another big game against the KISS, leading the Shock receiving corps with four receptions for 39 yards and three touchdowns.

The tough loss for Arizona came on the back of a poor performance by quarterback Nick Davila, who completed only 8 of 22 passes for 114 yards and one touchdown with one interception before being replaced by backup Jason Murrietta at halftime.

Meyer continues to feed the threatening receiving duo of Carter and Mike Washington, who have combined to bring in 142 receptions for 1,676 yards and 30 touchdowns. Meyer’s accuracy and the receiving corps sure hands have led to Meyer’s 65.5 percent completion rate, the third best in the AFL.

But it’s not only through the air that Meyer is dangerous – in addition breaking his own franchise single-season rushing touchdown record against San Antonio he is now only 32 yards shy of breaking his own franchise mark for single-season rushing yards.

Spokane’s recent success is thanks in part to the return of Meyer on offense and in part to a stout defensive unit that has given up only 45.7 points per game, the fourth best mark in the league.

Terence Moore anchors that defense, having recorded 80.0 tackles, six interceptions, four fumble recoveries, and five defensive touchdowns. Defensive back Paul Stephens stops anything that gets past Moore, having racked up 60.0 tackles, two interceptions, and 26 passes defensed. Up front defensive end James Ruffin continues to terrorize opposing backfields by tallying a league-leading 12.5 sacks.

Despite his below-average performance two weeks ago, Davila remains one of the league’s most productive signal callers. He has completed 67.8 percent of his passes for 3,830 yards and 105 touchdowns, 63 of which have gone to wide receivers Rod Windsor and Maurice Purify.

On defense Arizona is led by a trio of ball hawks in the secondary, with Jeremy Kellem, Arkeith Brown, and Marquis Floyd maintaining the three highest tackle totals on the team and a combined 21 interceptions.

In addition to national coverage of the game on CBS Sports Network, radio coverage can be found on 700 ESPN Radio.

2015 Season Tickets for the Shock’s 10th Anniversary season are on sale now and can be purchased by calling (509) 242-7462 or by visiting SpokaneShock.com.
