PASCO, WA - The Boise Hawks rode a five-run second inning to defeat the Tri-City Dust Devils 6-2 Sunday night at Gesa Stadium. The Dust Devils (7-10) were only able to collect four hits in the loss to the Hawks (7-10).
Huascar Brazoban continued a streak of fantastic pitching Sunday night for Tri-City. Brazoban went two scoreless innings in relief, giving up just one hit and striking out one. In his last four appearances Brazoban has pitched eight innings without allowing a run. He has 11 strikeouts, a walk and three hits allowed in that stretch.
Dust Devils starter Grahamm Wiest (0-1) struggled early in his outing. Wiest allowed five runs, all in the second inning. He allowed six hits, two walks and one strikeout over four innings in a losing effort.
Boise outfielder Jeffrey Baez went 1-for-5 with a two-run home run. Baez's home is the Hawks' league-leading 17th home run of the season. First baseman Danny Canela went 4-for-5 with two doubles and a run scored for the hawks.
Hawks starting pitcher Trevor Graham (2-1) was great in his six innings. Graham allowed two runs, none earned, on three hits, two walks and struck out four as he picked up the win.
The Dust Devils and Hawks will play the second game of their five-game series at 7:15pm Monday night at Gesa Stadium. Right-hander Blake Shouse will take the hill for Tri-City, and righty Ben Wells will pitch for Boise. sn three hits, two walks and struck out four Dust Devils batters in the win.
