Jeffrey Baez got the Hawks (5-8) on the board in a hurry, belting out a lead off home run off of Derek Thompson to open up the game, and after Thompson got the next three batters to go down in order, Boise had a 1-0 lead that lasted into the third inning.

Hawks starter Tyler Ihrig was able to go seven innings and struck out five Indians (10-2), only allowing the three runs in the third inning.

Fernando Vivili and Charles Moorman each singled to start off the bottom of the frame, with Vivili getting to third after he beat the pickle when Ihrig caught him trying to steal. With men on first and third Saquan Johnson hit a double to deep center field to score Vivili and move Moorman to third. Eduard Pinto singled to right field, scoring Moorman and giving the Indians the 2-1 lead. Alberto Triunfel fouled out to left, but it was enough for the sac fly to plate Johnson, but Pinto was caught trying to advance to third. After all the dust settled Spokane led 3-1 heading into the 4th inning.

It was a short-lived lead.

Mark Malave began the fourth with a single to center and brought in a few moments later on Kevin Brown's two-run homer off of The Depot behind the right field wall. The Hawks would go on to score again in the frame on a Charlie White double to score Jesse Hodges who had reached on an error earlier in the inning, giving Boise a 4-3 lead.

Then Ihrig settled in over the next four innings, only allowing a double to Zach Cone in the bottom of the fourth. The Hawks' starter only threw 74 pitches over his 7 innings pitched.

Thompson would throw a scoreless fifth inning, Erik Swanson came on to toss a scoreless sixth but then Boise got back to work.

Ryan Ledbetter came on in relief for the Indians only to give up two runs in the seventh and two again in the eighth to move the Boise lead to 8-3. Darrell Hunter finished the inning for Ledbetter and then threw a one-two-three ninth.

The Indians would begin a late rally with one out in the bottom of the ninth. Cone walked and stole second on the indiffernence from the Hawks, allowing Juremi Profar to hit a RBI single to center field and cut the lead to 8-4. Vivili would hit a single to left and with two men on Charles Moorman almost hit a three-run blast to right, but it hooked just foul, and on the next pitch the Spokane catcher grounded into the game-ending double play.

Boise snaps a seven-game losing streak and the Indians lose their first nine-inning contest of the season. The Hawks will head home to open up a three-game series with Hillsboro tomorrow, June 26.

Spokane will hit the road in the morning and face Everett tomorrow night at 7:05 p.m. PDT.
