PASCO, WA - First baseman David Bergin guided the Tri-City Dust Devils to a 6-4 win over the Eugene Emeralds Sunday night at Gesa Stadium. Bergin hit a booming home run over the fence in left field in the eighth inning to clinch the victory. Bergin led the Dust Devils (4-6) offensively all night. He hit his first career triple in the first inning, and went 3-for-4 with four RBIs.
Tri-City starter Ryan Warner was terrific for the Dust Devils. Warner pitched six innings and only allowed two runs, one earned, on three hits and a walk. He struck out six Emeralds batters, the most by a Dust Devils pitcher this season. Jerad McCrummen (1-0) picked up the win for Tri-City. McCrummen pitched 1 1/3 innings, gave up an unearned run, a walk and struck out two. Scott Firth picked up his third save of the year. Chris Hoffman took the loss for Eugene (4-5). He pitched 2/3 of an inning and allowed four runs, including the three from Bergin's home run. He also was charged with a blown save with two walks and a strikeout.
The Dust Devils and Emeralds will play the middle game of their five game set Monday night at Gesa Stadium with first pitch at 7:15 p.m.
