– The NCAA Division I Baseball selection committee announced the field of 64 for the championship Monday morning and Washington was selected to play in the Oxford, Miss. Regional. It is the third time the Huskies have been sent to the state of Mississippi for NCAA Baseball play.

The Huskies (39-15-1) will face Georgia Tech (36-25) in their first round game on Friday, May 30 at 1 p.m. PT (ESPN3). They will play either host Mississippi (41-18) or Jacksonville State (36-25), who will play at 5 p.m. ET Friday, on Saturday.

The tournament will run Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and if necessary, Monday, May 30-June 2.

Washington has some history against both Georgia Tech and Mississippi in NCAA play. The last time the Huskies played in the NCAA championship in 2004, they were also sent to Oxford. UW was 1-0 against Ole Miss, beating them in an elimination game, before falling to Tulane in a winner-advance game.

The Huskies faced Georgia Tech in both the 1994 and 1997 regionals. The Rambling Wreck beat UW in two-out-of-three games to eliminate the Huskies in 1994 at the Wichita Regional, but Washington would send home top-seeded Tech in 1997 at the Mideast Regional in Starksville, Miss.

The Huskies are 19-16 in eight previous NCAA appearances.

The top-eight overall seeds that can host through the entire tournament until the College Worlds Series are: Oregon State, Florida, Virginia, Indiana, Florida State, Louisiana-Lafayette, TCU and LSU.
