Seahawks 2014 NFL Draft Selections

Posted:
After trading down twice, the Seattle Seahawks made their first selection of the 2014 NFL Draft in the second round (45th overall) and went in the route of selecting a receiver. Check back here as SWX will update this story as the Seahawks continue to select players at Radio City Music Hall in New York, NY over the next couple of days.

Seahawks 2014 NFL Draft Selections

2nd Round (45th overall) - WR, Colorado - Paul Richardson- The former Colorado wideout was ranked 71st on ESPN.com's big board and given a scout's grade of 74. Richardson finished the 2013 season with 83 receptions for 1,343 yards receiving and 10 touchdowns. Seattle was in need of WR depth with the loss of Golden Tate and in Richardson they get a player who caught for more than 500 yards 5 TDs in all three of his seasons in Boulder, Colo.

2nd Round (64th overall) - OT, Missouri - Justin Britt - The former Missouri Tiger will definitely bring some size to the Seahawk's offensive line. Britt is right around 6'6" tall and weighs 325 pounds. In 2013, the media named Britt 1st-Team All-SEC as a left tackle. He started 30 games in his college career, with 24 at left tackle and six at right tackle. There are some injury concerns with Britt, since his 2012 season was shortened due to a torn ACL. Prior to that injury Britt fractured his foot in the spring of 2012.

4th Round (108 Overall) - DE, UCLA - Cassius Marsh - Marsh has had some known off-the-field issues, but started 12-of-13 games for the Bruins in 2013 and every game in 2012, racking up 60 tackles, 10.5 tackles for loss and blocked 3 kicks in his last two seasons in Westwood. Marsh was named All-Pac-12 Honorable Mention in his final season.

4th Round (123 Overall) - WR, Alabama - Kevin Norwood - The 6-foot-2 wideout finished the 2013 season with 38 receptions for 568 yards and 7 touchdowns. Norwood was one of A.J. McCarron's main targets on broken plays, according to NFL.com, showing the ability to come back to the ball. This attribute seemingly fits the Seahawk's offense, with QB Russell Wilson being able to extend plays.

4th Round (132 Overall) - OLB, Boston College - Kevin Pierre-Louis - The former Connecticut Gatorade Player of the Year from his prep days was only projected to be a 5th-to-6th round pick by NFL.com. The 6-foot 232 pound linebacker finished his Eagles career with 360 total tackles, including 108 in his senior season. Pierre-Louis also had six sacks and 10.5 tackles for loss in 2013. Missed three games in both his sophomore and junior seasons, but started all 12 Boston College played in 2013.

5th Round (172 Overall)
- DT, Mid. Tenn. St. - Jimmy Staten - This 6-foot-4 304 pound gap filler didn't even have a profile on NFL.com. He finished with 30 tackles, 1.5 TFL and 2 QB hurries in 2013 which was good enough to earn a All-C-USA Honorable Mention selection. Staten had a sack and a career-high 36 tackles in 2012.

6th Round (199 Overall) - OT, Marshall - Garrett Scott - A 6-foot-5, 295 pounder who started 35 games in his career with the Herd at guard and tackle. Scott was a 2013 Second Team All-Conference USA selection. Played both right and left tackle during his senior season. Finished with 56 pancakes, allowed only 1.5 sacks and only had 4 penalties called on him in his senior year at Marshall.

6th Round (208 Overall) - FS, San Diego St. - Eric Pinkins - A hard-hitting safety from Sacramento, Calif. is listed at 6-foot-3, 220 pounds but still ran a 4.44 40-yard dash at his pro-day. Pinkins finished the 2013 season with 75 tackles, 7 tackles for loss, a sack, 2 fumble recoveries and 2 forced fumbles. While he had no interceptions in 2013, Pinkins did pick off three passes in 2012, he also had 65 tackles in 10 starts in his junior season. Will have an excellent secondary to learn from after being called, "A late bloomer," by NFL.com

7th Round (227 Overall) - FB, Arkansas - Kiero Small - A Junior College All-American in 2010 before he transferred to Arkansas. After helping the Razorbacks' rushing game be one of the top gainers in the SEC in 20111, Small was injured all of 2012 after suffering a season-ending injury in practice after a week-one win over Jacksonville State. Ran the ball 40 times for 151 yards rushing and 3 TDs while serving as the lead blocker for a Arkansas offense that rushed for 2,504 yards in 2013.
