Report: Meyer Out For 6 Weeks With Broken Collarbone

SPOKANE, Wash. -- Spokane Shock quarterback Erik Meyer had surgery on his broken collarbone on Tuesday, and is expected to miss the next six weeks of the AFL season, according to a tweet from the Spokesman-Review's Jim Meehan.  Meyer sustained the injury while getting sacked in Sunday's road win against the L.A. KISS.

Meyer is the reigning AFL MVP after setting Shock franchise records with 4,667 passing yards and 112 touchdowns during the 2013 season.  Meyer had battled injuries for much of his career, but had playing injury-free during his MVP campaign.  Wide receiver Rashaad Carter was pressed into quarterback duty after Meyer's injury, and responded by throwing two touchdown passes and equaling Meyer's franchise record with four rushing touchdowns.  It is not yet known who will start at quarterback for the Shock in Friday's game against the Pittsburgh Power.  The game will be broadcast live on SWX-TV at 7:00 pm.
