The Gonzaga University men's basketball team secured its second-straight West Coast Conference Tournament Championship and its 16th-consecutive bid into the NCAA Tournament by defeating BYU 75-64 at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas, NV.

The Bulldogs (28-6) started hot and didn't look back taking a 44-27 lead into the half thanks to shooting 61-percent (19-31) from the field. Gonzaga opened up a 15-to-3 run to pull away over a 6-minute stretch in the opening 10 minutes of the first half.

The Zags dominated the Cougars (23-11) in the paint all night. Senior center Sam Dower Jr. led the Zags with 14 points and 7 rebounds, at the half, he finished with 20 and 13 boards. Dower and sophomore center Przemek Karnowski scored 14 of the Zag's first 22 points to help push the Bulldogs out to the early lead.

Junior guard Gary Bell Jr. and senior forward Drew Barham each hit two from behind the arc and combined for 14 points in the first frame.

Despite losing sophomore guard Kyle Collinsworth to a knee injury early in the second half, the Cougars went on a 14-to-5 streak to cut the Gonzaga lead to 11 after trailing 53-33 only 5 minutes into the second half.

BYU was able to bring the deficit down to nine points, but couldn't gain any more ground on the Zags as they were able to make the free throws needed to secure the win down the stretch.

Bell Jr. ended up with 14 points, while junior guard Kevin Pangos added 11 by going 11-14 from the charity stripe. Senior guard David Stockton only had four points a night after tying his career high with 21 points vs. Saint Mary's in the semifinals, but he did finish with 7 assists, 5 rebounds and 3 steals.

Tyler Haws scored a game-high 24 points for the Cougars. BYU will wait until Selection Sunday, Mar. 16, to find out if they will make the NCAA Tournament.
