DENVER—The Western Athletic Conference announced the 2013-14 All-WAC honors on Monday. Following a vote of the WAC's nine head coaches, junior Stacey Barr and head coach Jon Newlee took home conference Player of the Year and Coach of the Year honors, respectively.

A 5-8 guard, in WAC play Barr ranked second in the conference in defensive rebounds (6.44 pg), fourth in both scoring (19.7 pg) and three-pointers per game (2.5), sixth in rebounding (8.6 pg) and 10th in assists (2.94 pg). She posted double-doubles in half her WAC games and had nine games in WAC play with 20 or more points. Barr was a three-time WAC Player of the Week this season.

On the season, Barr finished third in the conference with 17.9 points per game. She led Idaho with 8.1 rebounds per game (sixth WAC) and was fourth in the WAC hitting 2.4 three-point field goals per game.

Newlee was named WAC Coach of the Year after leading the Vandals to their first-ever WAC regular-season title with a 15-1 league record and a 22-8 overall mark. Idaho posted an 18.8 scoring margin in WAC games and ranks in the Top 25 nationally in seven statistical categories. This is Newlee's second WAC Coach of the Year honor, as he earned the award in his first season with the Vandals in 2008-09.

The conference coaches voted senior Alyssa Charlston to the All-Conference Second Team. Charlston finishes her career a three-time All-WAC selection, earning First Team honors in her sophomore and junior seasons. She closed out the WAC season ranked 13th in scoring (13.6 pg), 18th in rebounding (5.8 pg) and second in blocks (1.8 pg). Charlston ranks in the Top 10 in 10 of Idaho's all-time records.

Sophomore Ali Forde garnered All-Defensive team honors. Forde led the conference in blocks (2.3 pg). She finished WAC play seventh in rebounding (7.9 pg), ninth in steals (1.4 pg) and fourth in offensive rebounding (3.4 pg).

Five different schools are represented on the first team. Joining Barr are Bakersfield's Tyonna Outland, Grand Canyon's Kaitlyn Petersen, Seattle U's Kacie Sowell and New Mexico State's Danesia Williams.

Along with Charlston, the All-WAC second teamers are Kansas City's Eilise O'Connor and Kim Nezianya, Seattle U's Sylvia Shephard and Melissa Sweat of Bakersfield.

The All-Defensive Team is made up of five players from five different schools, including Forde, Outland, Shephard, Texas- Pan American's Brittany Bush and Deanna Daniels of Grand Canyon.

The All-Newcomer Team consists of Goff, Sweat, Johnna Brown of Grand Canyon and Utah Valley's Katie Kuklok and Rhaiah Spooner-Knight.

The WAC tournament begins Mar. 12 at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas, Nev., where the top-seeded Vandals will take on the eighth-seeded Chicago State Cougars in quarterfinal play.
