SAN BRUNO, Calif. – Gonzaga University sophomore Andrew Sopko was tabbed the inaugural West Coast Conference Rawlings Pitcher of the Week for the 2014 season, announced the league office Monday.

The Missoula, Mont., native picked up his first collegiate victory over the weekend over the University of Nebraska. The right-hander threw seven scoreless innings against the Huskers and scattered just four hits. Sopko struck out four and walked just two batters.

The win was also the first of the year for the Bulldogs. Gonzaga entered the game 0-3 before the sophomore gem. GU took the game 5-3.

Next for the Bulldogs is a trip to San Antonio for the Irish Baseball Classic. Gonzaga takes on University of the Incarnate Word Thursday at 1 p.m.
