DENVER — Idaho junior guard Stacey Barr has been named Western Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the week of Dec. 30-Jan. 5. This is her third WAC Player of the Week honor of the season and her career.

The Melbourne, Australia, native led Idaho to a pair of WAC road victories to open the conference season last week. Barr opened the week with 13 points, six rebounds, five assists and a steal in a win at Kansas City. She then recorded her fifth double-double of the season in the Vandals' win at Chicago State, finishing with a game-high 21 points, 12 rebounds and a season-high six assists. For the week, Barr averaged 17.0 points, 9.0 rebounds and 5.5 assists, all above her season averages, as Idaho opened conference play 2-0 for the first time since the 2003-04 season.

"Personally, I did not shoot the ball that great," Barr commented. "I found another way to score, going inside especially against Chicago [State]. I was happy I was able to adjust to that."

Barr leads the Vandals with 16.1 points per game, coming in fourth in the conference. She is averaging a 7.6 rebounds and 2.9 assists, ranking second on the team in both categories.

Barr and senior Alyssa Charlston are now tied for the most career WAC Player of the Week honors. Charlston earned the weekly award earlier this season (Nov. 18). Alli Nieman (1996-00) holds the most career-conference honors. Nieman was named the Big West Player of the Week six times in her Vandal career.

In addition to being recognized by the conference, Barr was also named Collegesportsmadness.com's WAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week.
