Lake City Looks For Another Post Season Push

Posted: Updated:

Coeur d'Alene, ID-- The Lake City Timberwolves opened up fall practice this week and are looking for another run in the post season.

"I love football, "said Tucker Louie-McGee. "I couldn't wait to get back out to two-a-days, to get pads on, helmets on and just running around again."

"I wasn't too excited hearing that we wake up at 6 everyday, said Gavin Rosteck. "Come out here at 6:30am but you got to grind, got to get up and early."

The T-Wolves are coming off a semi final finish in the Idaho 5A State Tournament, as they were shut out by Madison, 36-0

Lake City went 6-4-1 in 2012 and after making that unexpected run to finish 3rd in state they look to build off that season.

"They finished on a good note last year," said Head Coach Van Troxel. "That created some excitement coming into this year. There is really a good feel and vibe about this group that this is going to be a fun season."

Meanwhile, in Post Falls the Trojans coming off a 2-7 season, a record that did not meet expectations.

"We were really young last year, not very experienced at the varsity level," said defensive back Braden Davenport. "Going from JV to varisty it's a completely different speed to the game, it will be good for us coming back mostly starters. It will be good."

The upside, a lot of players gained varsity experience and after a few changes to the staff they are looking to move this program forward.

"We are really trying to change it, turn it around," said linebacker Nate Gomer. "We changed some things so hopefully there is some big improvements."

"We took a look at ourselves as a coaching staff, took a look at ourselves as a program and made some changes and we are excited about the kids and the attitudes that are coming back," said Head Coach Jeff Hinz.
