Rattlers Avoid Controversy, Clinch Division

Updated:

The Spokane Shock will enter the AFL playoffs as the No. 3 seed in the National Conference.

After weeks of the AFL community assuming the Arizona Rattlers had sewn up the top seed, it came to light that Spokane could grab home field advantage throughout the playoffs less than an hour before the Shock's game on Friday.

The Shock did their part by beating the Pittsburgh Power, but Arizona avoided a tie in the standings, and any controversy, by dismantling the Iowa Barnstormers 84-45 on Saturday.

Spokane hosts Chicago on Thursday in a first-round playoff matchup.

Former Idaho quarterback Brian Reader went threw for 197 yards and four touchdowns for the Barnstormers.
