Blake Gal's goal 34 seconds into overtime lifted the Spokane Chiefs to a 3-2 overtime win over the Tri City Americans Saturday night in Kennewick. The win was the Chiefs 5th straight victory and 10th in their last 11 games.

Tri City jumped out to a 1-0 lead on a Connor Rankin power play goal late in the first period. Spokane would tie the game on Jeremy McIntosh's first WHL goal at 12:34 of the second period on assists from Mikulas Rimmel and Dylan Walchuk. Walchuk would give the Chiefs a 2-1 lead at 5:55 of the third period on a power play goal from Brenden Kichton and goalie Garret Hughson. Tri City's Justin Feser would tie the game 1:59 later to even the game at two and sent it to overtime.

Kichton would key a 2 on 1 rush in OT, with his shot stopped by goalie Troy Trombley. The rebound came right out to the stick of Gal, who banged home his 17th goal of the year, and his 4th game winner. Hughson picked up his 6th straight win in net with 24 saves as Spokane took the season series 7-3-2. It also marked the third time the two teams went to overtime this year, and all three decided in the first minute of OT, as Tri City won 2 of the 3.

The Chiefs will close out the regular season Sunday at 5pm in Portland against the Winterhawks. Mike Boyle will have the call on 1510 KGA beginning with the pre-game show at 4:30pm.
