SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – The Seattle Mariners defeated the Colorado Rockies 5-2 in front of a sellout crowd of 12,427 fans at Salt River Fields at Talking Stick in Cactus League play on Saturday.

Kendrys Morales snapped a 1-1 tie in the fifth inning with a solo homer (#3) to left field off of Colorado starter Drew Pomeranz, jump-starting a three-run, two-out rally. After a Michael Morse walk, Jesus Montero followed with an RBI double, and Montero scored on a Carolos Peguero single to right field.

The rally made a winner of Seattle starter Erasmo Ramirez. Ramirez (2-0) became the first Mariners starter to work six innings, allowing just two runs on eight hits while walking one and striking out four. Charlie Furbush (2.0 IP) and Oliver Perez (1.0 IP) closed out the game with three scoreless innings.  Perez picked up his second save of the spring.

Mike Jacobs finished the scoring with a solo homer (#2) to center field in the seventh. The Mariners have hit 41 homers in 21 Cactus League games, the most in the Majors.

Seattle scored its first run in the second inning as a Nick Franklin single drove in Peguero from second base.

Morales finished the day two-for-three with a run scored and one RBI, and Montero and Peguero also had two hits.

Seattle returns to Cactus League play tomorrow with a home game vs. the Texas Rangers at Peoria Stadium. The game will be televised on ROOT Sports and broadcast on 710 ESPN Seattle and the Mariners radio network. Dave Sims and Mike Blowers will call the game on TV, while Rick Rizzs and Aaron Goldsmith handle the radio. Right-hander Blake Beavan is scheduled to start for Seattle vs. Rangers left-hander Michael Kirkman. Right-hander Felix Hernandez is scheduled to pitch in a minor league game.
