Former Cougar Abdullah Returns to NFL After Pilgrimage

Updated:

Former Washington State Cougar Husain Abdullah is back in the NFL after taking a year off.

Abdullah took last season off to go on a pilgrimage to Mecca with his brother, Hamza.

On Monday the Kansas City Chiefs signed the safety to a contract. He worked out for the team earlier this month.

Going undrafted out of Washington State, the 26-year-old defensive specialist spent four years with the Minnesota Vikings. He started nine games in 2011 and 14 games in 2010 before taking some time off.

Husain's brother, Hamza, remains unsigned for the time being.
