SPOKANE, Wash. - Gonzaga University women's basketball junior Haiden Palmer was named West Coast Conference Player of the Week Monday.

Palmer averaged 13.0 points, 5.5 rebounds, 5.5 assists and 4.5 steals per game last week as the Zags improved to 8-1 in the WCC and maintained their one-game lead over BYU and Saint Mary's.

In a 79-57 win over Loyola Marymount Thursday, Palmer dished out a career-tying high six assists, had five steals - her sixth game of the season with five-plus takeaways - and grabbed a season-tying high seven rebounds to go with nine points.

Palmer followed that up with a game-high 17 points in an 81-52 win over Pepperdine on Saturday. She shot 50.0 percent from the field (7-of-14) to go along with five assists, four steals and four rebounds.

This is Palmer's second WCC honor of the year and the third of her career.

Also nominated: Keilani Unga, BYU; Ellen Nurmi, Portland; Kate Gaze, Saint Mary's; Maya Hood, San Diego; Lindsay Leo, Santa Clara
