Former Dolphins QB Dan Marino is still married despite having an affair in 2005.
NFL legend Dan Marino apologized this week for having an extramarital affair and fathering a child with a 35-year-old production assistant from CBS.
The New York Post reported the story Thursday, revealing Marino had an affair with Donna Savattere in 2005. At the time, Marino had been married for 20 years and had six other children, two of which were adopted. He is still married and celebrated his 28th anniversary on Wednesday.
The Post also reported Marino has paid Savattere millions of dollars to support the child and keep the affair quiet.
Marino told the newspaper in a written statement:
"This is a personal and private matter. I take full responsibility both personally and financially for my actions now as I did then. We mutually agreed to keep our arrangement private to protect all parties involved."
Marino is slated to be a part of CBS's coverage of the Super Bowl on Sunday. The network had no other comment other than to say "Dan has said all there is to say on this matter."
