Gonzaga Prep crushed any hope Central Valley had of running the table in boys basketball with a 62-46 win Tuesday night.

The Bullpups (13-2, 12-1) were out seeking revenge for a 58-40 loss at the hands of the Bears (14-1, 12-1) on December 14, and they exacted it thanks in large part to 25 points from senior post Jacob Groh.

Gonzaga Prep took a two-point lead into halftime, but created separation in the third quarter in which they allowed just nine points. From there, the Bullpups exploded for 20 fourth quarter points en route to the 16-point win.

Junior guard Sam Dowd chipped in 13 points for the Bullpups, while five players scored eight points apiece to top the scoring for Central Valley.

With the win, Gonzaga Prep now moves into a tie atop the Greater Spokane League 5A standings with Central Valley, though the Bears still maintain a better overall record.
