SPOKANE, Wash. -
The Pac-12 season fires up Saturday as Washington and Washington State face off against each other in Pullman. And for the record, Spokesman-Review beat writer Christian Caple is predicting a Cougar win.
Speaking on SWX Tonight on Wednesday, Caple predicted the Cougars would beat the Huskies if for no other reason than Washington State has proven they can play well at home.
"I think the teams are evenly matched enough that you would expect a team that plays as well at home as WSU to take care of business at home," said Caple. "I think Washington has struggled. They really haven't played well at home either… I just think WSU is good enough in Pullman that they have the advantage this time around."
Some other notable comments from Caple:
DaVonte Lacy and Mike Ladd have emerged as the two players who stand the best chance of taking some of the offensive pressure off of big man Brock Motum.
"I don't know if he's that big time No. 2 right behind Brock Motum but he certainly is someone who commands the defense's attention, especially because he can shoot from three point range."
Washington State can get as many as 10 wins in the Pac-12 – and that's not bad!
"[Coach Ken] Bone has said the chemistry is better than he's seen during his time here…. I don't think that would be bad for a team that finds itself in kind of a transition period this year."
