SPOKANE, Wash. -

A freshman at Whitworth is the Northwest Conference's Student Athlete of the Week in men's basketball.

George Valley, from Bellevue, led Whitworth to a pair of wins last week by averaging 20 points per game and shooting 65 percent from the field. His 23 points against NAIA Montana Tech was a career high.

The Bucs' next game is Friday at home against Pacific Lutheran. They play Puget Sound on Saturday in a game televised live on SWX.

 

Kate Duvall Honored in NWC Swimming

*The Northwest Conference also named Kate Duvall its student athlete of the week in women's swimming. The native of Vancouver, Wash. posted an NCAA provisional qualifying time of 2:06.30 in the 200 backstroke, which is also the best time in the NWC this season. Her 500 Free time of 5:11.49 is al the best in the NWC this year.
