They have a chance to point the program in the right direction Wednesday night with a game against familiar foe, Idaho.
The teams are familiar with one another because they scrimmaged each other throughout the offseason. Because of that, the Cougars definitely know what they are getting into.
"They know our program also, there is no big secrets between what we do and what Idaho does," said WSU coach Ken Bone. "It's always a great game, it's a fun game, it's always very competitive."
Bone said his Cougars were "very fortunate" to sneak out a win last year against the Vandals. Reggie Moore hit a shot with 0.9 seconds left for the 66-64 win in Moscow.
The WSU-Idaho game is the oldest continuous rivalry west of the Mississippi River and the sixth longest continuous rivalry in the nation.
Wednesday's game tips off at Beasley Coliseum at 7 p.m. The game can be seen live on Pac-12 Networks.
