Shadle Park sophomore quarterback Brett Rypien has already done a number on the high school record books in his short career. And the signal caller's efforts haven't gone unnoticed.

The Rypien family confirmed to SWX that Washington State head coach Mike Leach extended a scholarship offer to Rypien Tuesday evening. The Cougars are Rypien's first collegiate offer thus far, but he isn't slated to graduate from high school until 2015.

Rypien broke multiple Greater Spokane League records this season, including the single-game passing yardage (577 yards against Central Valley) and single-season passing yardage records.

The Rypien name is a familiar one to Cougar fans, as Brett's uncle is legendary Washington State quarterback Mark Rypien. In addition to his playing days in Pullman, Mark Rypien is also known for his time in the NFL, where he was elected to the Pro Bowl twice and was named the Most Valuable Player of Super Bowl XXVI.
