Wednesday marked the early signing period for high school athletes to declare their intentions for college next season, with several Spokane-area teens sending in letters of intent to their respective future programs.
In basketball, Gonzaga Prep's Madison Wright signed a letter to play at Southern Utah next season. Kayleigh Valley, from University High, committed to Montana. Mt. Spokane's Brooke Reilly is headed to Moscow to play basketball for the Idaho Vandals.
Brett Bailey, also from University, signed a letter to play basketball for the University of San Diego. He is the reining MVP of the Greater Spokane League and the first All-State player to join the USD Toreros.
In other sports, Olympic Trials swimmer Addisyn Bursch, from University High, will join the North Carolina State swim team. Mt. Spokane's Kennadie Clute will play volleyball at Montana State. And Gonzaga Prep's Alex Marcinkowski committed to play men's tennis at the University of Oregon.
