SPOKANE, Wash. -

Gonzaga fans are eagerly counting down the days until tipoff. The regular season begins Friday night on KHQ and SWX with a game against Big Sky newcomer Southern Utah.

The Zags enter the season ranked No. 21 in the country. They dominated Northwest Nazarene in their lone exhibition tilt and now they can't wait to get things started with a game that actually counts.

"I'm just happy, to be honest, really happy to be go out there and play together with my teammates and just compete," said forward Elias Harris.

"The journey begins," added sophomore guard Kevin Pangos. "I'm looking forward to it. Last year was a lot of fun. I've been dreaming about this my whole life – playing at this level. To actually be here again and have a year under my belt and know what it kind of takes and what's going to happen, I'm relaxed but I'm excited."

Friday's game tips off at 6 p.m. from the McCarthey Athletic Center. The game can be seen on KHQ and SWX in the Spokane and North Idaho areas. Fans outside the region can watch the game on ROOT Sports.
