Pirates Earn Spot In NCAA Tournament

SWXRIGHTNOW.COM - The NCAA Division III soccer tournament begins Thursday, and the Whitworth Pirates will be in San Antonio, Texas this Saturday to represent the Northwest Conference.

The Pirates will face The Choctaws of Mississippi College in their first round game. The Choctaws finished their American Southwest Conference season with a 12-5-2 record.

Whitworth will rely heavily on their outstanding defense and their goalkeeper, Kyle Novak, who has a .29 goals against average, the fourth best in the nation. If they beat Mississippi College, the Pirates will play against the winner of host Trinity University vs. Claremont-Mudd-Scripps.
