Tri-City Americans take positive outlook after rough weekend

Posted: Updated:

KENNEWICK, Wash. -- The Tri-City Americans returned to practice after losing three games in three nights. The long weekend capped off with a 6-0 blowout by Portland. Also Tri-City lost to Seattle and Spokane. But the Americans were not disappointed in their play. Head coach Jim Hiller says there are other ways of determining success besides the final score, at least early in the regular season.

"Scoring chances are the first thing. You know look at, did we out chance them, were we creating chances and what type of chances were we giving up? So, that's always a good measure, and then ultimately you have to score when you create those chances," Hiller said.

"It's more of a mindset, just throwing everything on net, "get it there get it there," guys crashing, that's mainly what we have to do in the games. Not necessarily even go in, just get a rebound, create a stir in front of the net and just that mind set get to the net, usually helps us in getting goals," forward Mitch Topping added.
