SPOKANE, Wash. -
No one will ever take Rob Sacre's place at Gonzaga. That much is clear in talking with head coach mark Few. But what, then, can fans expect out of freshman Przemek Karnowski?
"You know, he has an upside," said Few. "He's very young and certainly he's young to how we play the game over here."
Few said Karnowski, all seven feet of him, is in "a big adjustment phase".
"If you ask him he probably thinks he's playing as bad as he has in a while – basketball speaking," said Few.
Few said the new, big guy is being coached on every play, he is learning new terminology and adjusting to the physicality of the college game.
But he has tons of upside.
"He is a fantastic passer, he can really pass the basketball," said Few with a smile.
Karnowski had 17 points in 17 minutes last Saturday in the Zags' exhibition game against Northwest Nazarene. Gonzaga has a closed scrimmage against Texas this week before opening the regular season Nov. 9 against Southern Utah.
