HS BOYS SOCCER: Saint George's Shuts Out Dayton

UPDATE: Northwest Christian beat Glenwood 3-2 Tuesday morning in the first game of the 1B/2B Dist. 5/7/9 Sub-Regional Tournament in Yakima.

In Spokane, one of the favorites to win the tournament, Waitsburg-Prescott, shut out Northport 7-0.

Northwest Christian will play Waitsburg-Prescott Friday in the semi-finals.

In Yakima, Riverside Christian beat Valley Christian 9-0 in the afternoon game. They will play Saint George's in Spokane on Friday. Saint George's shut out Dayton 10-0.

The regular season is now over for high school soccer, as several teams will keep on playing into the sub-regional and regional playoffs.

Mead girls beat Gonzaga Prep last week 2-0 to advance to the regional tournament. They will be the No. 2 seed to the 4A regionals and will play at Pasco on Tuesday. Central Valley, the top seed, will play at Richland, with the winners in both contests going to the state tournament.

In 3A, Mt. Spokane hosts Kennewick at Spokane Falls Community College on Tuesday, while Shadle travels to play Hanford in the Tri-Cities. Southridge plays at University and North Central travels to Kamiakin.

1B/2B Sub-Regionals Get Underway Tuesday

In boys soccer, several Spokane-area schools are playing in the sub-regionals to get into the state tournament. On Tuesday, Saint George's hosts Dayton; Valley Christian plays at Riverside Christian; Northport and Waitsburg-Prescott play each other at Saint George's and Glenwood/Trout Lake plays NW Christian at Riverside Christian. Those eight teams are playing for a seed to the quarterfinals of the state tournament in Sumner on Nov. 16-17.

The sub-regional championship game will be Saturday at Gonzaga Prep.
