Former LC Tiger Briann January Having a Breakout Year, Lots of Fun

Updated:

Speaking on SWX Tonight on Wednesday, Briann January called the Indiana Fever's win over Connecticut in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference finals "crazy".

January, who graduated from Spokane's Lewis & Clark High in 2005, missed a layup in the closing seconds that possibly would have won the game. But her team came through, fought for the rebound, and nailed a jumper to put the Dream away for good. January ended the night with 16 points.

This season has been a breakout season for the former LC Tiger. She had surgery on her knee last year and was on the bench when her team was in the playoffs last season. That experience proved to be valuable, giving January a new perspective of the game.

"I was watching film with the coaches, and as a point guard that's huge because you're supposed to be the extension of the coaches out on the court," explained January. "That really allowed me to have that connection with our coaches to see what they want, see what they need and expect of all of our players."

Game 3 is Thursday night at 5:30 p.m. (PT) on ESPN2.
