Connor Halliday & Co. is getting ready for its second nationally-ranked opponent in two weeks. Last week was No. 2 Oregon. This week is No. 14 Oregon State in Corvallis.

Since taking over for the injured Jeff Tuel during the Cougars' game against UNLV, Connor Halliday has thrown for more than 300 yards in each of his three starts. The gunslinger from Spokane's Ferris High School has already thrown for more than 1,200 yards and nine touchdowns. He has six interceptions.

Head coach Mike Leach said he has been impressed with Halliday's development this season.

"I think [Tuel and Halliday] are similar, I think they're both similar and they both do some good things," said Leach. "Connor has kind of given us a spark and has been playing pretty well so we've stuck with him."

Halliday said he is getting more reps than ever in practice, which has helped him mature as a Pac-12 quarterback.

"All the reps I get in practice now – I take the first team reps so that's a lot more than the backups role – so these last couple of weeks have been great in my growing as a quarterback," said Halliday.

Saturday's game in Corvallis will be televised on the Pac-12 Networks. Kickoff is at 3 p.m. (PT).
