Pete Carroll Talks About Controversial Win, Replacement Refs

Two days after the Seahawks won a controversial game over the Green Bay Packers, coach Pete Carroll stepped up again to say a few things about the touchdown catch that many say should have been an interception.

The questionable call was the first thing he addressed in his weekly news conference in Renton.

"I think the first thing I want to get across is I understand. We've been through this situation many times… and been on both sides of the issue," said Carroll. "It is always so difficult when it doesn't work out… It hurts when you don't get it done and it feels good when you do."

He said understands why the officials called what they did, noting there are a lot of good clips on the Internet that show every angle of the play.

Other than that, he didn't say too much about Golden Tate's catch in the end zone. He did, however, answer a handful of question about the officiating. One reporter, suggesting the officials were letting a lot of penalties left uncalled, was told the exact opposite.

"They've called more penalties than we've ever seen!" said Carroll.

Surely he is happy about the possibility of the locked out officials coming back to work as early as this weekend, but at the same time Carroll offered a cautious warning.

"When the real guys come back in they're going to be great, but they're still going to make calls you question."
