The Idaho Vandals can't seem to catch a break.
The team is coming off an overtime heartbreaker, losing to Wyoming 40-37. Idaho is now winless four games into the season.
The lone bright spot is that all four losses have come against non-conference opponents, including a loss to the then-No. 3 team in the country.
The Vandals feel like they could have won a couple of those games – if they had just "finished".
"Certain times it was just mistakes that, you know, everybody makes mistakes and nobody's perfect, and Wyoming did a good job at taking advantage of those mistakes quickly," said receiver Mike Scott.
"We had our opportunities… and that aggravates you a little bit that we didn't get the opportunity to make it a couple of scores differential and not be in the situation that it would have to go to overtime," said coach Robb Akey.
For his part, quarterback Dominique Blackman said he needs to get better to give the Vandals a chance to win.
"I just have to step my play up," said Blackman. "It's frustrating for me because I'm the only person to touch the ball every play. I just have to be able to make those plays when I get that opportunity."
Idaho has another opportunity to win a non-conference game Saturday when they play North Carolina in Chapel Hill.
