Give WSU coach Mike Leach a mic and he becomes a show-stopper. His charisma is literally awesome if not amusing. This week's winning comment has to do with quarterback Jeff Tuel and Tony the Tiger.
Yes, he put those two in the same sentence.
Okay, what about the context, you ask. A reporter asked Leach how Tuel was feeling, given he had left the game against Eastern Washington and didn't play against UNLV.
"He's ridiculously healthy," said Leach. "I mean, he's one of those guys that Tony the Tiger would be proud of to be in a commercial and have him eat cereal and everything. You know what I mean, because I do think he would represent the whole thing well."
And all this coming from the guy who said he would refuse to comply with a mandatory injury report were the Pac-12 to institute such a system.
You have to hand it to the guy; he sure handled that beautifully. Leach got people talking about a cereal character instead of his less-than-effective quarterback and whether or not he has an injury problem. Well done, coach. Well done.
