Halliday or Tuel? QB Controversy Continues at Washington State

Once again, Mike Leach is staying tight-lipped about who will be the starting quarterback Saturday when Washington State plays Colorado.

The sophomore Connor Halliday did plenty to prove his case last week, throwing for 378 yards and four touchdowns against UNLV. He has thrown for 13 touchdowns in six games, four more than even Drew Bledsoe had in his first six games as a Cougar.

Even so, the job is still up for grabs, according to Leach.

"You're going to have to stay tuned and watch very closely – the anticipation is killing everybody, including me," said Leach to reporters. "We're going to have a good week of practice and see where that all ends up."

Halliday said he would do all he can, not for himself, but for the team.

"If my role needs to be on the sideline cheering on Jeff [Tuel], that's what I'll do," said Halliday. "If my role is to be out there playing, that's what I'll do as well."
