PROSSER, Wash. -- Downtown Prosser closed for an hour for the town's 87th Prosser's States Day Celebration and Parade. A tradition that means "when old friends meet" held on Labor Day each September.
States Day dates back to a time when farmers would put down the plow and head into town for an old fashioned family picnic. The parade began at 10am, and then just a few blocks down to City Park, people played games, danced, and as tradition goes registered residents by the state they hailed from.
