EVERETT, Wash. -- Captain Justin Feser and Philip Tot each had three points, leading the Tri-City Americans (1-0) to a 4-1 win over the host Everett Silvertips (0-1) in the final game of day 1 at the Everett Silvertips Holiday Inn Pre-Season Classic.

The Americans got off to a fast start and scored first, with Feser tallying the first goal of the season on a power play 6:10 into the game. Philip Tot and Mitch Topping earned assists that put Tri-City up 1-0 early. At the end of the first period, the Americans added another goal by Tot. Lucas Nickles and Feser earned assists to give Tri-City a 2-0 lead after the first.

The Americans would increase their lead in the second. Michal Plutnar scored late in the period to put Tri-City up 3-0 after two periods.

Everett would get on the board in the third, with Carson Stadnyk scoring to end the Americans shutout hopes. Less than a minute later, Feser increased the lead back to three with his second goal of the game. The goal was assisted by Nickles and Tot, each earning their second assists of the game.

Tri-City out-shot Everett 29-22, including putting 14 shots on goal in the second period compared to Everett's four shots. Eric Comrie got the start in goal and stopped eight shots in 30 minutes of work. 15-year-old Evan Sarthou played for the remaining 30 minutes. The third-round bantam draft pick saved 13 of the 14 shots he faced. The Americans were 4-4 on the penalty kill, while scoring one goal in four power plays.

The Americans finish up play in the tournament tomorrow September 1 when they take on the Portland Winterhawks (1-0) in Everett. Game time is 3:00 p.m.
