CHENEY, Wash. -

With the starting quarterback situation now settled, Eastern Washington is turning its focus to their opponent for Week 1: Idaho.

Coach Beau Baldwin named SMU-transfer Kyle Padron the starter last week.

The Eags travel to the Kibbie Dome in Moscow on Thursday.

"It's good to finally get in that mode where we can finally start gearing our minds toward somebody else, and that way lay off our guys and get ourselves healthy again… and go out there and show what we've been working for all offseason," said defensive tackle Evan Cook.

"This is why you put in a lot of that time – so you can get ready to play a game. It doesn't get any better than that," said Coach Baldwin.

Can the Eagles – an FCS team – win against a mightier FBS school?

"You have to be efficient on offense with all the scout looks we're going to get," said Padron. "I think our defense is going to be ready for the challenge too."

Thursday's game in Moscow will not be televised but it will be made available on ESPN3 online.

After Week 1, the Eagles play at Washington State on Sept. 8. Idaho hits the road to play Bowling Green in Ohio.
