Kennewick football hoping experience the key in 2012

Posted: Updated:

KENNEWICK, Wash. -- The Kennewick Lions head into 2012 with a very experienced group. However, the Lions will look to replace last year's star quarterback Bryce Leavitt, and All-State honorable mention running back Grant Woods. Kennewick hopes to build off a run to last year's state semi-final game (loss to Kamiakin). The Lions say if all goes well, another deep postseason run is in the cards.

"I think we have a good group but I don't know if we're as deep as we were last year or not. Again injuries are the key I think to most anybody's season. You get the wrong kid or kids hurt and it changes the complexion. But right now we feel pretty good about things," said Bill Templeton, Kennewick head coach.

"We're going to come out and try to run the ball a lot, get to the outside. We got Devven Ramos coming back. Bodie Simpson that's going to be really fast on the outside and we're just going to try and march right down the field," added Clayten Ayres, Kennewick center.
