PROSSER, Wash. -- The Prosser Mustangs return this year after a great year last season. Prosser made it all the way to the state semis before losing to Archbishop Murphy. Back this year are quarterback Ryan Fassler and wide receiver Danny Raap, two all-state selections. The feeling here around Prosser is that this year the expectations are very high.
"We expect a lot out of ourselves. We know we have to work for it. All summer all the guys were here, all summer working our butts off. We know we're this close to a state championship. So we've just got to keep pushing," Fassler said.
"This year I'm actually more confident than I've ever been. It's not just because it's my senior year. We just click," Raap added.
The Mustangs will open the regular season with a trip to the Tri-Cities to play Kamiakin. The two teams played in the first week of the regular season last year as well, with Kamiakin winning that game.
"A lot of things have to go right before you're able to ger into the playoffs. So we focus on that league title and play really well in our league, and let the chips fall where they may when we get to the playoffs," head coach Benji Sonnichsen said.
