Matt Flynn will start Saturday's preseason opener against Tennessee.
No one knows for sure what, exactly, it means, but Pete Carroll has decided that Matt Flynn will start Saturday's preseason game against Tennessee.
The decision signals, perhaps, that the quarterback battle has risen to a new level, with Flynn at the top of the heap. Or it may not.
The Seahawks reported on their website Tuesday that incumbent starter Tarvaris Jackson "is stepping back, for now, because Carroll, offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell and QB coach Carl Smith already had a good feel for him and he came to camp much healthier after playing most of last season with a torn pectoral in his throwing shoulder."
Former Tri-City Dust Devil (baseball) and rookie Russell Wilson will play in the second half of Saturday's game. Jackson will be on the sidelines.
Kickoff in Seattle is Saturday at 7 p.m.
