Spokane catcher Joe Maloney was, hands-down, the best player in the Northwest League last week.
Or so says the Northwest League.
Maloney was named the NWL Player of the Week after hitting a career-high .416. He batted in seven runs, three doubles, two home runs and six RBI. He is now hitting .292 for the season and has 18 RBI for the year.
"It's always exciting to be recognized for individual achievements but the team's success is my number one goal," he said in a statement through the Indians organization.
Maloney went 2-for-4, including a home run against Salem-Kaiser on Monday. He leads Spokane with a .850 on-base percentage.
Spokane is at Salem-Kaiser all week. They return to Avista Stadium to host Everett on Saturday – a game broadcast live on SWX.
