Washington began fall camp on Monday.The Washington Huskies started fall camp on Monday, with head coach Steve Sarkisian beginning his fourth season in Seattle.
This year's squad has 12 seniors on the 103-man roster. But significant questions remain about whether Sarkisian's defensive staff makeover can produce better results. They have gone 5-7, 7-6 and 7-6 over the past three seasons.
Whether the defense improves or not, Washington definitely has a target on their back. Not that they mind it, really.
"I couldn't even sleep last night," said quarterback Keith Price. "I woke up three or four times at about 4 a.m. knowing that I had to wake up at seven.
"It was fun, I think the energy was good, offensively. Obviously we still have a lot to work on, but overall I think it was a good day."
"We're not flying under the radar anymore," said Sarkisian. "Teams have circled us on their schedules. So, you have to understand kind of where you are in the lay of the land. That's where we are. We're not sneaking up on anybody anymore."
The Huskies open the season September 1 at CenturyLink field against San Diego State.
