Seahawks Surprise a Purple Heart Recipient

SPOKANE, WA - Five years ago, Spokane native Chris Carver had to teach himself how to walk and talk after suffering a traumatic brain inury while serving our country overseas.  Fastforward to 2012, Carver is living life and getting surprised by players from his favorite NFL team.

Wide receiver Ricardo Lockette and cornerback Roy Lewis surprised Carver at his house Thursday as part of the team's 12th man tour.  The two gave him a 12th man flag, a signed jersey, and four tickets to the Seahawks' game against the New York Jets and New England Patriots.

The 2002 Rogers High School graduate and was in Iraq for the second time in 2007 when his humvee was hit by an improvised explosive device.  Carver spent two months in a coma and still experiences short-term memory loss.  He uses a handheld electronic device to keep his daily schedule on track.  The retired army staff sergeant was given a purple hear for his service.

Carver is currently studying to be a social worker at Eastern Washington.
